Malachite

Another copper carbonate hydroxide mineral, malachite, is created by the weathering of nearby copper orebodies and has the chemical formula [Cu2CO3(OH)2]. Bright green with a light green streak makes up the colour (Fig. 1.14). Between 3.5 and 4.0 are the ranges for hardness and specific gravity, respectively.
